Ahoy!! Matey

It’s International Talk Like a Pirate Day!!

International Talk Like a Pirate Day (ITLAPD) is a parodic holiday invented in 1995 by John Baur (”Ol’ Chum Bucket”) and Mark Summers (”Cap’n Slappy”), of the United States, who proclaimed September 19 each year as the day when everyone in the world should talk like a pirate. For example, an observer of this holiday would greet friends not with “Hello”, but with “Ahoy, me hearty!” The date was selected because it was the birthday of Summers’s ex-wife and consequently would be easy for him to remember.

Is Complaining Causing The Problems

UPDATE 9/2/07: This post refers to Steve’s article about how to stop complaining, here is a link to his article about complaining, a good place to start… :) Complaining

Are you some one who complains? Do you never find the success that want? Steve Pavlina of stevepavlina.com has some idea’s about why. Steve says:

Perhaps the most important step in quitting the habit of complaining is to disconnect the undesirable behavior from your identity. A common mistake chronic complainers make is to self-identify with the negative thoughts running through their minds. <more>

For any of you out there that know me, I am a big believer in “You become what you think about”. The Law of Attraction (popularized recently with the movie “The Secret” ) is a great way to understand the concept. Steve Pavlina is one of my favorite blogs to follow, because he really explores the why’s and the what’s. While I don’t always agree with his interpretation’s, I always have more to think about after reading one of his articles.

Enjoy

Video: Awesome Planet Earth

A great video show casing our home in the universe.

According to the Positivity Blog:

It’s an official trailer for the BBC series Planet Earth set to the music of Icelandic band Sigur Ros. And just as the gorgeous documentary-series …
…about life on Earth it’s jaw-droppingly good. Mixing the footage with the beautiful song “Hoppipolla” from the great Icelandic band´s album Takk is an inspired and inspiring choice.

I haven’t watched the documentary (not watching TV very much right now), but I thin I will enjoy it. I think I” check and see if NetFlix has it!

Evoloterra

Celebrate! 38 years ago, mankind journeyed to another world. Evoloterra is a celebration of what we are and what we have accomplished.

Evoloterra is a secular holiday celebrating human achievement in general, and the event of the first manned moon landing in particular.

from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evoloterra

Where were you, what were you doing? It was before my time. I have always lived in a world were going to the moon was a fact, not a fiction. What is next on the horizon? Mars… beyond?
